NASHVILLE — Eleven staff members of the American University of Iraq – Baghdad completed a week-long immersion at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College of Education and Human Development, the university reported on August 31, 2026.
The group took part in Vanderbilt's Staff Excellence Fellowship, a train-the-trainer program built around interactive sessions, institutional visits, meetings with Vanderbilt faculty and leaders, collaborative design work, daily reflection and final presentations. Its focus was on how leadership development and professional learning can be put into practice at their own institution.
The staff also visited Tennessee State University, where they discussed student success, enrollment management, academic support and partnerships with its leadership, and the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, for sessions on innovation, presentation and turning ideas into action.
Peabody College is AUIB's partner on its College of Education and Human Development.
