BAGHDAD — The American University of Iraq – Baghdad moved to fully online classes on March 31, 2026, saying the step was taken to protect students' safety.
In three updates posted that evening, the university said faculty would remain reachable by email and that students were expected to keep up with their coursework online. Campus access and opening hours could change as the situation was monitored, it said, and visitors were asked to call ahead on extensions 6227 or 6228.
A third notice reaffirmed the university's commitment to educating young Iraqis and said it would keep supporting students and faculty through what it called the current regional challenges.
The university's annual report for 2025–2026 later referred to airport closures and conflict-related disruption during the year.
